ambassador aceo

weey it's the ambassador... AGAIN! he keep turning up in my drawings - he must be a man of importance.

this time he is a marker drawing on water colour paper. i love the simple lines and the slimy alien vegetation. drawing with markers is fun - there's no room for mistakes! once you've put a mark down on the paper, that is it. the mark stays.

i've been flashed in the park!!

as i was walking in tier garten in berlin earlier today, i saw this man sitting along a path with an umbrella on the ground. i thought it was sort of odd as it was really sunny. he was hiding his face, yet looking at me weird as i walked past him. i wondered if something was wrong, as he seemed uncomfortable and had chosen a really weird place to sit - just next to a bin.

a little further away i sat down under a tree to read a book, think about life and enjoy the fact that i had bothered taking a walk in the park. when i finally looked up again - i see mr. umbrella man walking about - NAKED! it was a surreal sight; he walked with grace, like he was pretending to be adam in eden or something. it was obvious that he was putting on a show for me. then someone else came along the path and he hurried back to where he had been sitting, put a t-shirt on and hid behind his umbrella.

i managed to get a photo of him as he was hurrying back to his umbrella hide-out:

aaand i've been kind enough to enlarge the bit with mr. umbrella man in so as to not disappoint any of my blog readers:

it would be funny if he found my blog and saw that i've uploaded a photo of him in the nude!

tier garten is in the center of berlin, and it's really crowded with people working out, eating lunch and taking care of the park- the last thing i had expected was seeing a man walk about "secretly" in the nude! i say secretly as i think the guards would have chucked him out if he was discovered. he was clearly not a nudist, but a pervy-man.

people are entertaining.

paintings by anna l conti

i like these paintings by anna conti- i don't LOVE them, but i think they're nice. i don't know what's wrong. she's a good painter, and i like her subject matter. ok. wait. i know what it is. there's something FLUFFY about the paintings that are supposed to be dark. i don't like saying this, as someone said the same thing about my drawings way back before i even went to art college and i was majorly frustrated by it. i tried to draw really nasty horrible bleak things, but i just haven't got it in me. this is sort of the feeling i get from anna's paintings.

ah, classic bath tub painting:

i think her best paintings are the ones where she isn't trying too hard to be dark. it's not because i don't like dark stuff, but because it's not what anna does best. this one is one of my favourites:

ok, ok, so there's an empty chair - turned away from us. i guess that's not entirely positive - empty chairs/rooms are always a reminder of something or someone who isn't there. in this painting though, i get a feeling that whoever it is that isn't there is ME and that i can just walk in there, sit in her plastic chair and enjoy the view and a glass of white wine. i think it's a white wine scenery, and a very pretty one too- in pretty colours. it would soothe my mind to stay there for a while. it's possibly not what she intended, but hey, that's the way of art; it's completed in the minds of it's audience.

cat plays the piano

i often wonder what goes on inside the head of animals. i'm sure they have a sense of humour. and that they can appreciate things they sense. it's obvious that they appreciate taste, smell and touch.. but i also think they can appreciate imagery, that they find some things or places more pleasing to the eye than others. and sound- i think they can appreciate music. can a cat have a sense of beauty? does a sense of beauty have anything to do with intelligence?

here is a couple of videos of a cat playing piano. i think it's amazing as the cat seems to not just mechanically attack the piano, but it seems genuinely interested in the sounds. and it even plays together with people! it's an actual musical, artistic cat. the music it makes reminds me of how i'd play on the piano as a 4 year old. and i do remember thinking i made actual music at the time.

watch both of the videos!

the owners says this about nora's piano skills:
"This is not a trick that was taught to Nora. She began sitting at the piano at about one-year-old. She's four now. She plays only when the mood strikes her, which is usually several time a times a day for short periods."

man-table

i find some of pepe smit's pictures really edgy and funny, and others are kind of, eh, over the edge for me.
i don't like this, for example:

it's a boring photo and it reminds me of pedophilia. maybe there's something i don't get about it?? let me know what you think. maybe i've seen too much sexy nurse fetish costumes and the like to have an objective view of things??

i think this photo is great though. i like the matching dresses and headbands and table cloth.

i'm off for a week of german wine festival! i hope they have proper tables and not man-tables. i don't think people make very good furniture- apart from being cushions, maybe.

-- eva updates:
i'm just about to leave for my wine festival, then i read the comments, and thought i had to post another nurse photo for akeda, as he is totally right- it's not a sexy nurse :

ok NOW i'm off to drink lots and lots and LOTS of wine :D
